Thoughts on journaling and how it has helped my personal practice

Hi Readers,

Lately, I have been committed to a journaling practice. In turn, this practice of journaling has becoming a practice in both reflection and gratitude. Each day as I write I reflect on both the days events along with what I have been doing within my practice. Moreover, I have been committing to fully embracing gratitude in every way I can. Even for the small things like cooler days, going on walks, no smoke in the air from fires, or something smaller. I touched on this in a previous post and video Journaling is not just something I use for Self-care but through the reflections I have made it has allowed me to write more in-depth on spells, rituals, and aspects of my practice.

Through my journaling and gratitude practice I can appreciate the blessings I have in addition to delving deeper into what I want to manifest using magick. Writing allows me to clearer define not just intention, getting clear about what exactly I want to achieve, but I am able to formulate spells around what I am gleaming from my writing. Further, through journaling I have as I point out in the video, writing more within my Book Of Mirrors and the spells I am currently casting, the connections I am making, and reflections will eventually end up in my Book Of Shadows and Grimoire. For example, I cast a spell for dealing with anxiety which I am planning on placing into my Grimoire now that it has manifested. Also, through journaling I can work on different aspects of spellcraft such as writing affirmations, chants, incantations, listing ingredients If I use any, noting what worked, and what did not. If I had to choose something newer Witches should have is something to write with or maybe even a journal to set aside.

Journaling is not something that can be used for Self-care but can be used to help you within your practice of magick and as a Pagan. I have noticed patterns concerning connections to the land, spirits, the deities I work with, and nature itself that I did not notice them as they were happening like I do now after reading them. Also, one thing I would like to note is that journaling does not have to be something you do every day, but it can help you. I found through writing daily I find that it helps me collection and organize my day including making time for magick in addition to making time for aspects of my practice I may have set aside. Also, incorporating journaling as part of your practice can help you determine things when it comes to Divination. For instance, I found through journaling that the messages I received through divination for that day help me make a better decision and I was prepared for a change that I was told about during my session.

These are just some of the thoughts I have been contemplating relating to journaling not just in form of Selfcare but how they have helped me in my practice. I hope that by sharing them they will give you something to consider adding to your own practice.

Do you use journaling? Has journaling helped you within your practice?
