Why I don’t use spells from books.

Hi Readers,

Over the past few weeks I have been thinking about something I have done since I have started out on my path. I am not someone who has ever performed any form of ritual or spell from a book, something I have found online, or through some other medium. However, I do read books, watch videos, read blogs, and articles in order to connect with other people through there writings. I found inspiration and ideas on how I can craft my own spells while reading a book. Furthermore, I have been thinking about why I choose not to cast spells from books.

Personally, I feel like books are great resources and can help us start out when we are first learning and even If we have been practicing for a while. For myself, I found most of my inspiration through books before I started looking up blogs. One of the things that I feel is important to note about books is that I always found the spells in the books lacking something. Also, I feel like the best spells are done by the person crafting them. Not that using spells from books is a bad thing, but I feel like it’s important to learn how to craft and cast spells that you create rather than using something from a book. Also, the intention of the author who wrote the spell might not be the intention that you have for the spell you are trying to cast. I do not believe intention is the only factor you should consider.

One aspect to reading spells from books for me was is that I question everything about the spell I am interested in learning how it can be cast. I question why certain words, timing, and other correspondences are used. Another aspect is spell materials or components was and is something I find frustrating because I have read spells calling for ingredients that I either have no idea how to acquire them and I question how necessary they were for the spell to be effective.

Currently, when I read spells others have written I use them as inspiration for crafting my own as I mentioned before. However, I am more likely to just work on the spell from scratch. I find that by doing this I am to personalize, figure what ingredients I have available, and choose the words I feel fit the situation. Also, I find that for some people they could get stuck on having only one way of casting a spell which is why I feel like reading different books on the subject can help. By reading different books you can see how several authors view the same subject. Finally, with all of this said I feel that spells from books can be guides in order to help you understand what elements you might consider when crafting the spell such as ingredients, timing, what materials you could use, and so on. I am simply sharing my perspective on the subject in order to help you think about the spells you read and how you can adapt or craft your own entirely.

Many Blessings!!
