How working on our personal practices can benefit us now and in future

Hi Readers,

Several of us are going through a lot with the current global situation concerning our health, economy, and other issues. For many it is a time of a lot of unknowns. However, I believe that this time is a good time for us to delve into our personal practices. Even If you are in a coven, I would still think having some type of personal practice along side what you do with others is an important thing. If anything, you may be able to bring something new the next time you meet in person or online. I thought I would share how we can all do this and how it can benefit us in the long term.

We can learn something new and reevaluate our practices

Do you have something that you have always wanted to learn but put it off for some reason? Taking the time to research and experiment is a good thing. You can see how that part of your path fits into your overall practice. You can figure out it If is something that is important to you. Also, this can benefit you in the long term as this allows you time to redefine your personal practice. Revaluating your practice by learning something different can help you figure out where you are currently along with assisting in realizing aspects of your practice that may no longer serve you.

You can research and experiment more

As I said above researching and experimenting is a good thing. I know for me personally it is something I find useful. Through researching something intently I learn how something came about and where it comes from. Through that I can figure out If what I am researching is relevant to my practice and culture as that is important to consider. I have an interest in making incense for example and I think understanding what herbs are good both medicinally along with magickally is useful. Also, understanding what herbs can be harmful to what conditions and in general is important. Some herbs may not be safe to burn. Also, through experimenting I can figure new ways of creating incense that I would not have realized before which may come up in the research phase through reading or videos. Furthermore, experimenting allows me to figure out portion sizes for myself along with ways to use things around me that may not be available in a book or by googling it. This benefits me and others by allowing them to figure out what works and what doesn’t in addition to being able to share it with someone else who may be interested in the same subject.

We can reconnect

While several may still work a lot of us may not be going out as much. A lot of us have time to reconnect with everything. We can reconnect with our deities, spirits, ancestors, and anything else we work with. We can reconnect with nature in some form while still being safe. Even going outside in your yard is a start. Connecting with a plant, herb, or crystal is another way. Also, reconnecting to all these things gives us an opportunity to keep our relationships going with the land we live on, nature, and the entities in what ever form that we work with. We can reconnect by giving offerings, creating something in honor of them, and several other ways. This benefits us as it allows us to reconnect with our practices in indirect and direct ways. In doing so we have more meaningful relationships with everything during these trying times. This way when life returns to normal, we still have those connections and they are strengthened by our forging a deeper connection now we have the time to do so.

This list is not exhaustive I could think of other ways delving into our personal practices can benefit us. We have options opened to us that will help us be more effective in our magick as Witches. Read that book that you have around, write in your magickal books, try a new form of spellcraft and anything you have put off.

How do you plan to use this time? What other suggestions do you have about personal practice and the benefits that working on it has during this time?? Leave a comment!!
