Crystals and Mental Health.

Hi Readers,

As part of the month of May and in honor of National Mental Health Awareness Month,  I have been discussing a lot pertaining to crystals. I would like to discuss crystals as they relate to mental health.

Please note I do not think that crystals are to be used in place of or as a substitute for professional help for mental health. If you or someone you know need support, I have provided a list of resources at the end of the post to help in addition to raising awareness.

As far as my mental health journey I find myself struggling with anxiety. Mostly, within crowds especially large ones, along with other major situations. For example, being in a large, crowded area makes me anxious because I sometimes feel overloaded via my senses. Further, I have found that the pandemic did not help my anxiety. I sought therapy and I am still in therapy to this day as it has assisted me a great deal. Moreover, I find that in addition to the strategies I have used in therapy I have used crystals.

Crystals help me within my mental health journey in a variety of ways. I thought I would discuss a few main ways in which I use crystals. I find that certain crystals like Rhodochrosite, Amethyst, clear quartz, hematite, Obsidian, and a few others help me with mental health. I find just holding any one of them assists me in calming my anxiety. I make sure to set the crystals aside for that specific purpose in addition to cleansing and charging them for assisting with mental health. For example, I have an amethyst I use for helping me calm down when I am panicking, I also have used Rhodochrosite within meditation to gain clarity on a struggle with my anxiety such as meditating on what causes the anxiety or what the root cause could be. Moreover, I have used Rhodochrosite as it is used to help balance the emotions.

Other ways I have used crystals for mental health are during meditation like the one mentioned above in addition to creating a crystal grid. I have done an entire grid around anxiety. In addition, I have carried crystals as part of a spell or more than one spell. For example, I created a crystal grid as part of a spell to release anxiety, in conjunction with creating a grid for emotional balance. Grids are not the only way you can use the crystals as part of your spells you can use them in candle spells for managing anxiety, placing crystals in your purse within a bag to carry with you in case you need them while out, you could even use crystals within a larger spell depending on what you use within your magick. Another example is you can create a spell jar pertaining to a specific aspect of mental health such as depression, anxiety, along with other strategies you are using as part of therapy. I have created a spell jar for this purpose at one point where I placed different crystals such as citrine for helping me with my mood, hematite for grounding, in addition to other aspects that lift my mood by using objects like something I wrote on paper, in addition to something that represented me. In my case, I used a word written on paper, but you could use a crystal, a picture, etc. Moreover, an additional example you could create an elixir for helping with a specific aspect of mental health. You could drink If it is safe to do so and the crystal is safe to put within water in addition to taking medication. A final aspect of crystals and mental health is you can place a set of crystals around your medication to lend their energies to it to help add more magick to the medication. Even taking the medication can be an act of magick. I have done an entire spell using medication and crystals such as the one above.

These are just some of the ways I have used crystals for mental health. If you have any questions, comments, or further insight leave a comment!!
