Solitary struggles: Evolving my path.

Hi Readers,

As I have stated in a prior post, I am currently Solitary primarily out of necessity. Additionally, I must make sure that where ever I join I need to be able to get to the meeting place of the coven. Further, I have yet to find one that I feel is a right fit. The one time I did I realized I could not go to the meetings because of differing circumstances transportation being the biggest obstacle. Moreover, I find that over the past few years that I have been struggling with looking for a coven again. Yet, at the same time I realize just like other aspects of my life at this point, I am not in the right place and time for seeking a coven. I am going through a transition both within my spiritual path and within physical everyday life as well.

I feel it is important for me to discuss how I continue to learn and grow as a Solitary Witch. I thought by sharing some of how I do things I could help others in a similar situation.

One thing I do for myself is try something new. Whether it is a new form of divination, a different form of raising energy, or trying a new form of meditation. This helps me learn a new skill and allows me to continue to experiment with something I have not tried. Also, I find figuring out how to use different objects and in some cases no objects at all during a working can help. This helps since I am relying on my ability to hold my focus, concentration, and visualize effectively. Also, by using different objects, I am able to work withh what is available around me.

Refining my spell crafting methods. I know this sounds like something people already know how to do but I try to look at different ways I have crafted a spell and try a different approach when I am crafting a new spell. Whether it is making an entire incense for the spell or learning how to make something new. I feel that this helps me rethink how I view crafting spells not just from the written aspects but from the ingredients as well.

Reflecting on myself. This helps me understand how my emotions, how my thoughts, and personality play out within my magic. This can help me realize where I need to focus on in terms of psychological or emotional struggles I need to work which could play a role in how my spells manifest. For instance, I cast a banishing spell to banish an emotional struggle and I realized later on that the emotion I was trying to banish kept on repeating in all forms for almost a month after. This made me reconsider the spell entirely. I realized that I had to work through the blocks concerning that emotion prior to trying to remove it. The repetition was a reminder that I needed to continuously to work on it in the physical to overcome the issue. Through reflection on myself I was able to work through the problem. I will not say that it was easy because it was quite difficult.

Lastly, I like to learn through other Witches by joining groups on social media. In addition to those groups I have several books, I watch videos, and listen to various podcasts on all types of Witchcraft, and Paganism as a whole. In doing this I can learn from different people of all backgrounds and paths. I can get inspired and interact with others even If it is through comments on YouTube. I find that by joining groups on social media I can interact with other Witches and ask questions. This is something I can not always do in person. Also, I am enjoying listening and learning from other people’s perspective on differing subjects. Via these various methods, experimentation, and interactions online I can learn, interact with, and be inspired by others. I am continuously inspired by what I learn from what I watch through videos, and from what I read as well. As I stated above, reflecting on myself assists me becoming aware of how my emotions can affect my magic. Finally, in utilizing all these approaches I feel that I can still grow and evolve within my practice, without feeling frustrated by the occasional struggles.

Many Blessings!!
