I realize I have discussed how I Read books as a blind witch. I wanted to discuss some of the ways in which I acquire books on Paganism, and Witchcraft. I tend to use a variety of resources.
How I choose the books is highly dependent on what device I am using. In the video linked above I used a braille note taking device called a Braille Note. However, I do use my phone or other device like an iPad to read as well in conjunction with that device. Furthermore, I can not always get books from one source for one reason or another. Since I prefer not listening to a book, I tend to use Kindle, along with Books on my iPhone to read.
I find that depending on the book also plays a role in where I get the book from as well. For example, when it comes to reading older books or books that are no longer in print, I have found that to be more difficult. However, I feel like that is certainly changing in some ways I see a lot of books related to the occult, Witchcraft, and the like on Sacred Texts. I have found a lot of older books on Sacred Texts along with an entire section pertaining to the occult, Paganism, and Witchcraft. I am interested in Hermeticism, so I found an online resource related to that online via Google.
Searching for books is rather difficult but not impossible while being blind. Lots of resources exist both in and outside of mainstream sources. I have found a great deal of books using sources that are tailored specifically for people who are blind. The only challenge I will state is that in years past locating audiobooks on the subject was rather difficult. I state that it was a challenge in the past because things are changing. I have found that audible.com has quite the collection of books related to Paganism and Witchcraft. So, for those who are interested books are available to you If you prefer to listen. Lastly, this includes the book I am currently reading Psychic Witch.
I would like to state that I am grateful to those publishers and authors who do what they can to make books accessible to all readers. Including those with people with disabilities like myself who are blind, visually impaired, or have some form of disability that prevents them from reading print. I hope that this trend of inclusiveness continues for a long time to come.
