I was inspired by my discussion on Divination that I thought I would discuss something that has been on my mind. I mentioned how I am currently using crystals as a medium for Divination. However, I would like to discuss why I personally do not read tarot. Tarot cards along with the entire system is quite complex. At this point I do not feel drawn towards study and learning how to read tarot. This in mind, I do have another reason for not using tarot within my Divination work nor my readings.
I have not found a connection to it. I have not found a deck of tarot cards, nor felt connected to tarot. When I first started, I heard a lot about tarot and in the past prior to studying Paganism. When I picked up tarot cards I found a disconnect when I try to use them something I still find to this day. Further, I feel that it has to do with some of the associations to the cards that are traditionally attributed. For example, I can think of instances where the death card does not mean what many associates that someone will die. This could be a change in your life or something else. Perhaps, I have not studied them enough to understand the full scope of the system. I do wish to study it in depth more so at a different point in time.
Another reason for not using tarot is that I struggle with physical mediums as a whole. I do not immediately have the connection that I do with tarot that I do have with crystals. For the record, it has nothing to do with the imagery that I can not see, it has to do with how I read as a whole. I read intuitively with most things I just pick it up and this is just something that happens naturally for me. Except for tarot and runes. Moreover, the other situation with my lack of relationship with tarot is that as I stated earlier, I simply can not connect with it. I have tried more than one deck, read about the cards as best I can, yet I still feel no connection. I feel like a block is present. Perhaps, I will learn a way that works for me that also works with the traditional meanings which would hopefully feel more intuitive. Maybe I will find a course that teaches it from an intuitive perspective. Also, I would like to make sure that I work through any other blocks that I may not no about concerning tarot cards. I hope that this helps you understand where I am coming from at this point.
