More thoughts on Magick and personal Gain.

Hi Readers,

During this past week, I was scrolling through Facebook and I was inspired by a post by CricketSong  If you do not know who I am talking about, I encourage you to check out the above link to her page on Facebook in addition to her YouTube Channel In this post  she discusses the topic of the concept that magick should not be used for personal gain and discusses how she misunderstands this concept. After reading this post I consider again my own thoughts on the subject. I have touched on this previously in this post I mentioned how I believe magick can be used to assist others but I also posed questions concerning the experience behind it. In doing this, I wanted you as the Witch to consider how your magick works for you in addition to how you truly are aware of how it manifests for you. I ask you If you are so focused on other people how can you help yourself? How do you know how effective your magick is in addition to the way it manifests for you? What experiences do you have that show it? What about the other person that your helping does the beliefs they hold influence the results? I pose these questions for you to consider how magick works in addition to consider how magick manifests. Also, consider your beliefs and mental state If I am in a state of mind where I am scattered, depressed, and trying to help another how might that play out? If it does not work that may cause me to consider how good my magick is. All of this said, there is another component to this concept, the media.

All of us are influenced by the media in some form whether through the news, infomercials, and what we watch. Shows like Charmed have perpetuated this notion that magick should not be used for personal gain, which if we look at it is mainly because it is fictional and just to add more entertainment. However, some people being influenced by this truly believe that idea which is one way this concept could be explained. Additionally, if we are influenced by what we consume and believe this idea then that will influence our magick.

However, I do not believe this is the case. I believe it is important for us as witches to understand ourselves, understand how magick works both in a general sense, in addition to based on our own experiences. In doing so, we can understand how magick works along with how to apply it in our lives. I would like to bring something that I feel is not discussed enough with this concept that people may feel guilty or like it is selfish for them to use magick for themselves. The reason for this can vary yet I believe it comes from the notion that magick should be used in a selfless way which may include helping others. This has to do with guilt because the person may believe that when they used magick to help themselves and something happened as a result that they did not deserve it say If they got a job but someone who really needed it did not. Does that make them selfish? No, and they should not feel guilty maybe they got that job for a reason, where the person who did not get it for a different set of reasons. That does not mean they did anything wrong it could just be that the job is not for them or it could mean that something more suitable to them will come along. Also, the guilt could stem from a place of feeling they are responsible for what happens with there magick. As Witches we must take responsibility for magick, but this does not mean neglecting ourselves in the process. We can still work magick for ourselves and help other people. If you work magick for yourself, you will help yourself with your own situations and be in a healthier place to help others in future.

I hope that I have provided points to consider with this concept. I realize that not all will agree with me nor understand where I am coming from, however I am explaining this based on my own experience and understanding at this point.
