Balancing Life and Witchcraft when to practice

Hi Readers,

Lately, my life has been without much of a schedule while I look for work. I can live without a schedule and sometimes I prefer it. However, I know that in most workplace situations you need to keep a schedule. I thought I would talk about balancing everyday life and Witchcraft. Rather than talk about what you can do to practice or what practice you can accomplish more specifically I am referring to when is the ideal time to practice for you. This will be different for everyone. I want to discuss this as it is important to understand how despite what life throws at us, we can still make our practices as vital and important as everything else.

Pick a time when you have less Distractions

I know this is easier said than done, but it is possible. Everyone has various points during the day when nothing is happening in between loads of laundry, cleaning, cooking, or classes If you are a student. Even If you work you have a break. What you do with that time is going to depend on what you want to accomplish. Need more time for meditation?  Meditate during your break even 10 minutes is something. Have a spell you are crafting look it over during a time you can devote to what you want to add or change.

Make it a part of your Routine

Everyone has a routine even If it changes from day to day. I realize this sounds contradictory, but you still do the same acts at specific times. Even If that time changes you still prepare coffee/tea/read a book or what ever you do. Witchcraft can be integrated in your routine. You don’t have to make a ritual or formal unless you are part of a tradition or it is part of your practice. Keep it simple and work something more complex when you have more time If it is something you want to do. Use what you have on hand and what works. The more you incorporate your practice into everyday life the easier it is to work around life situations. When life happens, you can always work your spell during a time that is less busy. If it is important you will find the time.

Use The Moon and Sun Phases

Several books discuss performing spells during specific moon phases like the full moon for all types of magick, and new moon for new beginnings. However, the sun has its own unique energy. You can work with both during different points of the day. Depending on the spell you can use both the sun and moon to help manifest what you want. Also, by working with you are balancing it by using two forms of energy. Working with sun can be during at sunrise, at noon when it is the strongest, and at sunset. I work with the sun regularly. I worked a spell that required something I needed to happen quickly. I decided to cast it at noon so I could get as much solar energy as possible. Then, I used the Full moon energy to help with the spell to assist with some emotional aspects of it.

Use the time that works for you and Not what a Book Says

I realize that I just discussed using the sun/moon to assist in your magick. However, I know from experience that the most effective time to work might not be available to us. what If the best time isn’t going to work for us. What if we are traveling? What If an emergency arises? Then, work with the time that works for you. If you do not know then use the time when you have the most energy. Whether it is at night or in the morning, use some time to work your magick.  Correspondences in books are useful and should be considered when crafting a spell but after you have considered them, also consider how much time you have and what works for you. Unless you are a part of some tradition or you are working with a coven then follow that. However, if it is just you practicing as a Solitary witch then use the time that is best for the situation.

All of this is just my opinion. Consider what is best for you. I hope that this has helped you consider other times you can work magick.
