Thoughts on Imbolc 2020, and preparations.

Hi Readers,

One of the Sabbats or holidays within the wheel of the year I have struggled celebrating is Imbolc. This usually occurs around February 1 or 2, I have seen references to it being celebrating at the end of the day on February 1st and into the 2nd.  I have seen other spellings but that’s the one I am familiar with.  Imbolc is known for many things If you read any article online, I have seen references to purification, it being the first indicators of spring, in addition to several other associations. Some of which include it being known as Brigid’s day in reference to the Celtic goddess Brigid who is known by other names.

Where I live, I am seeing indications of spring such as the birds chirping, the weather getting warmer, and the lengthening of the daylight. However, I have also noticed that this time of year it is about purification for me not just removing things that do not have any further place in my life, but people as well. I am just going with what the season brings.

I do my best to celebrate in a seasonal way as they really do feel like seasons especially this time of year. I believe it is because of the changes that I am going through personally along with the changes that are happening around the world as well.

I am celebrating this year by cleansing my space, my altar, and cleaning physically. I have already started physically getting rid of things I do not need. I have been considering how I will continue this throughout the season. Of course, I plan on doing a ritual to mark the occasion, in addition to setting up a new altar. I am using a different space for where I will be on Imbolc in addition to my main one. I am still working on some of the details.

Either way, however I celebrate I know I am welcoming this new season with hope, and I am feeling creative. I hope to incorporate more creativity during this season. Lastly, I wish all the best during this season and a blessed celebration of Imbolc!

Many Blessings!!
