Hi readers,

I thought I would talk about some of the ways I prepare for the summer solstice. In the above picture this is my current altar. Some of the things you see like the red crystals are carnelian to represent fire and the citrine point which If you can’t see it because of how small it is represents the Sun. Also, you will see a cauldron which I will be using to hold a fire. I wanted to have a bonfire I just did not have the space or time to set it up.

However, I usually spend at least two weeks before preparing, but this time I lost track of time. So, I spent some time carefully deciding what I wanted to decorate my altar with. Since I had a large selection of crystals in a variety of colors, I decided to use them. I separate my crystals by property and in some cases color. Further, I separate them into categories in terms of what I will be using them for such as for a magical working, meditation, healing, or something else. I try to have a least one candle on my altar but since I am using the cauldron, I decided to stick with using crystals. I also, have crystals to represent deity in addition to one for spirit on my altar. Also, a factor that plays a role in setting up my altar is space so as much as I would enjoy having fresh flowers, I don’t have the space nor light in order to keep them alive.

If space is a factor, you can use other objects like regular stone from your yard in different colors or paint them. If stone are not something you like, try using a picture of something or dirt for example to represent Earth. If you can’t burn candles use a lamp or something that represents fire. The altar above might be changed in the next few days. I tend to find things while I am outside to place on it.

I will be writing a post on how I celebrated the solstice on the actual day of the solstice. In my case, the summer solstice is this upcoming Friday June 21 at 8:54 PM. This is according to both google and using my amazon echo device.

I hope that this post was useful in helping you set up your altar and gives you inspiration on how you can set up yours.

Do you have any suggestions for altar decorations?  how will you set up your altar If you have one? If you have any thoughts feel free to leave a comment!

Many Blessings!
